Your name is Lukas Braun, you've fallen asleep at your desk again organising a previous case. The sound of 3 heavy knocks wakes you up, followed by a familiar voice
"Lukas? It's Sergeant Rhomolo from the Krakow Police Department."
See card 1 - Enviroment card of Lukas' office.
You stumble out of your desk, heading for the door.
[[Let Rhomolo in]]You swing open the door to see Rhomolo in his uniform.
See card 2 - Character photo of Rhomolo.
You look down and see Rhomolo holding a letter in his hand.
"What's that?" you ask and Rhomolo hands you the letter.
"Your new case."
[[Open the letter]]You peel open the letter and read the contents.
See card 3 - The letter by Mr. Bordeaux.
[[What is this?]]
[[Another case?]]"What is this?" you ask.
Rhomolo glances at the paper. "It's a new case for you to pick yourself up after what happened.
You curiously look at the paper as Rhomolo speaks. "It's got everything included. Your trip is covered, a place to stay, and even payment."
[[Payment...?]] "Another case? For me?"
Rhomolo nods. "The client only wanted you on this. It was to my surprise too in consideration of the mess you are.
You glare at Rhomolo.
You curiously look at the paper as Rhomolo speaks. "It's got everything included. Your trip is covered, a place to stay, and even payment."
[[Payment...?]]"Payment?"
"People barely know you anymore," Rhomolo says, "but this guy's willing to pay you a large sum. Based on your performance, of course. But this might be just what you need to get back on your feet."
...
Rhomolo pats your shoulder. "Don't mess up."
With that, you're left alone in your office once again. You still have quite a while until it's time to depart for your case. You decide to take a good look around before you head out.
[[Observe desk.]]
[[Look at cork board.]]
[[Run through old files]]You observe your messy desk, occupied with a computer and some loose sheets laying around that you never got to clean up.
Hidden by the corner of your desk is a photo.
See card 4 - A picture of Lukas' ex-wife and Leo.
You frown and turn away from the desk.
[[Look at cork board.]]
[[Run through old files]]
[[Prepare for the case]] You approach the cork board with lines of red decorating the notes together.
The sight allows you to reminsce on all the cases you've completed before.
[[Observe desk.]]
[[Run through old files]]
[[Prepare for the case]]You approach the crooked staricase by the wall, filled with books scattered in different directions and old case files with blankets of dust on them.
You pick up an old file with crumpled papers shoved into it.

[[Prepare for the case]]
With a sigh, you glance around the tattered room.
"Now, where's my suitcase?"
You pack your items and prepare to head off.
[[Let's go.]]After packing your suitcase, you head off to the airport based on Rhomolo's directions where a large aircraft awaits you.
With only the pilot in front of you and a server to tend to your needs, the hours to the ski lodge is... surprisingly pleasant.
Upon your arrival, a black car awaits you, one set up by Mr. Bordeaux. Not long after, you step back out to the breeze, greeted by a large ski lodge.
A young man, carrying a handful of suitcases, drops them in the luggage cart before rushing over to you with a seemingly fake smile.
"Good afternoon!"
See card 5 - Introduction of Eliot.
[[Greet the bell boy.]]"Good afternoon," you nod in return.
"You must be the Detective? May I take your bags for you?"
The bell boy already leans forward to grab your suitcase.
"No need for the formalities, Thank you but I think I'll be able to manage them myself."
"Please sir I insist, My fath... sorry. Mr Bordeaux doesn’t like to see me standing around."
"You're the host's son?"
The bell boy, who you've read up to be Elliot, nods in embarresment.
"When he isn’t disappointed in me, yes."
Elliot pauses. "Sorry that was quite unprofessional."
"No worries, here you can take my bags. Thank you."
Elliot grabs your bags.
"Be sure to grab a drink and settle in."
As you walk towards the front entrance, you notice Mr. Bordeaux speaking with a woman in a yellow, frilly dress. Most likely his new wife.
[[Speak with Mr. Bordeaux]]
[[Enter the lodge]]You walk over to the host that called upon your presence, but the moment he glances at you, he waves you off.
"Busy. I'll greet all my guests in a moment."
Mr. Bordeaux is too occupied. It's probably best to do something else until then.
[[Enter the lodge]] You enter the ski lodge.
See card 6 - Enviroment card of the ski lodge.
The ski lodge is vase, screaming one of luxury. A soft fireplace pits against the wall with several cozy seats occupied by a few other guests. The first thing that catches your attention is a bar.
Only a man with shaggy blonde hair sits by the bar with a young woman behind the counter, cleaning glasses.
The bartender perks up upon your arrival.
"Drink, sir?"
"Anything non-alcoholic?" You ask.
"Of course, here you are."
She hands you a plain drink.
"Thank you kindly."
"I don’t suppose you’re the detective Mr Bordeaux mentioned?" Hazel asks.
"I am. Lukas Braun. And you are?"
"Hazel. Thank you for coming. You look like you’re… watching for something. Is everything alright?"
See card 7 - Hazel's character card
You grow a bit cautious at Hazel's observation. "You’ve a keen eye, Hazel. Nothing to concern yourself with."
"Very well, Detective. It’s nice to have an unfamiliar face at one of these parties. Enjoy your evening."
You grab your drink and turn away to speak with other guests, only to have the shaggy, drunk guest jolt in his seat as a new song begins playing on the stereo.
[[Speak to the drunken man]]
[[Listen to the radio]]You turn to the man. "Good evening, sir."
The man looks over to you, eyes dreary. "Oh, and you. What’s your name?"
"Lukas. Lukas Braun."
"Vincent Ray. A pleasure. Welcome to Montgenevre!" Vincent seems to sober up with his enthusiasm.
See card 8 - Vincent's character card
"Have you been here before?" You ask.
"Yes. I’ve known Mr. Bordeaux for a while now. Your first time to the lodge?"
"Yeah, the invitation was… quite the surprise."
"Hopefully a good one. Bordeaux can throw quite the party. Old but gold, you might say."
"Is that right?"
There's a moment of silence with only the stero playing a particular song in the background. Vincent looks away.
"I’ll catch up with you later, Lukas, was it?"
"Yes. See you in a bit."
You step away from the bar and look over the room. There's still a few people to speak with.
[[Speak with the woman by the fireplace.]]
[[Speak with the man on the couch.]]
[[See Mr. Bordeaux.]]You quietly lean against the counter, listening to the song playing in the background. The music isn't quite famillar, but you do recall something being in the headlines about this particular band.
The man beside you keeps staring at the radio. Perhaps there's something there?
"Good evening, sir."
The man looks over to you, eyes dreary. "Oh, and you. What’s your name?"
"Lukas. Lukas Braun."
"Vincent Ray. A pleasure. Welcome to Montgenevre!" Vincent seems to sober up with his enthusiasm.

[[Speak with the woman by the fireplace.]]
[[Speak with the man on the couch.]]
[[See Mr. Bordeaux.]]You head over to a woman nuzzled into a chair by the fireplace.
See card 9 - Picture of Ingrid with a book.
"Hello there."
The woman jumps and her book fumbles. "Oh God, you made me jump!"
"Huh. So sorry about that. I just arrived and was introducing myself to people."
The woman composes herself. "Ah. Thats fine. I was just… lost in this book. My names Ingrid by the way."
"Well nice to meet you Ingrid. What book are you reading there?"
"Its a murder mystery novel, apart of the Watcher Series!"
"I love that series! Being a detective myself, I enjoy the ways the killers get caught."
"Oh, you’re a detective?" Ingird speaks with caution on her voice. "Are you on business?"
"No no, Mr Bordeaux invited me because of a mutual friend."
"Being a detective, I bet you’d love the books I publish."
"Gladly, you’ll have to share one with me."
"I will get you one for later."
"Thank you. Well I will leave you to your reading."
"Bye Bye Detective."
If - There are still people to speak with: You move away from Ingrid and look to the man on the couch. He seems to be staring at you.
[[Speak with the man on the couch.]]
[[See Mr. Bordeaux.]]
If - Player spoke with Hazel, Vincent, Ingrid, and Sammy, the following option only appears: You turn away from Ingrid to be met with the sound of glass crashing.
[[SMASH!]] You approach the man on the couch who seems to have been eyeing you the moment you stepped into the lodge.
Before you can introduce yourself, he speaks first. "Excuse me sir? Sorry if this is rude but, Do I know you?"
See card 10 - Sammy sitting on the couch
You shake your head. "No, Mr Bordeaux invited me out here for the weekend."
"hmm that’s strange? Swear I've seen you before? Somewhere… Whats your name?"
"I'm Lukas Braun, Private Detective based in Krakow!"
"Ohh that's where I know you from! The news! You’ve solved some high profile cases recently right?"
"Yes, I was lucky to receive quite a serious case that the police had to get involved with."
"The Martha Beck story right?"
You tilt your head at Sammy. "How did you know?"
"I'm a huge fan of detective stories, and my mother is good friends with Martha."
"That was a stressful case, I’m glad it worked out the way it did."
"Makes sense. Well, if you need anything like a second opinion on a case, I'd be thrilled."
"It's not every day you get to meet someone with your experience."
"Will keep that in mind."
If - There are still people to speak with: You wave goodbye to Sammy and turn to speak with some other guests.
[[Speak with the woman by the fireplace.]]
[[See Mr. Bordeaux.]]
If - Player spoke with Hazel, Vincent, Ingrid, and Sammy, the following option only appears: You turn away from Sammy to be met with the sound of glass crashing.
[[SMASH!]]If Lukas keeps coming back, we can create multiple barks.
First time: Busy.
Second time: Not now.
Third time: Lukas, we'll speak later!
[[Speak with the woman by the fireplace.]]
[[Speak with the man on the couch.]] The sound of glass smashing all over startles everyone. You turn over to see the host towering over his wife with a face flared of anger.
Bordeaux storms off, heading down the hall and slamming the door shut. All the guests are silent. Awkward.
Perhaps it's a good idea to look around the lobby before checking in on your client.
[[Look at bookshelf]]
[[Observe frames on the wall]]
[[Observe music CDs]]
[[Look at family portrait]]After observing the lobby, you glance over at Mrs. Bordeaux who seems to have a sullen face.
You approach her and the momet she lays eyes on you, she smiles, pulling away her sadness.
"Oh hello there… You must be that detective my Husband has been talking about," Gisela says.
See card 14 - character card of Gisela
You tilt your head at her. "He mentioned me? I guess so."
"Well he didn't mention how handsome you were that is for sure." Gisela seems to bat her eyes at you.
"Why thank you. But be careful there, I'm not here to be getting involved in flirting."
"Oh that's right. You’re on business?"
"Well just offering my skills and observations. Doesn't mean I can't relax a little."
"In that case. What about a drink?"
"That you for the offer but I’ll pass. Don't wanna be giving you the wrong impression."
Gisela leans in. Are you sure? (suggestively)
You take a step back. "Thought you said you were married?"
"I am, doesn't mean I can’t be nice."
"You aren't wearing a ring?"
"It went missing earlier this evening, I must go have a look for it, but you enjoy yourself Mr. detective."
Gisela heads off, leaving you with the handful of other guests in the lodge. Mr. Bordeaux may still be cooling off. It might be a good oppourtunity to weed out some other guests.
[[Speak with the man in glasses]]
[[Speak with Elliot]]
[[Speak with man on the phone]]You walk over to the man in glasses who seems to glare at the sight of you.
"You're a new face?" the man scoffs.
"Hi?, yeah im Lukas, I was invited by the Host-"
"Oh you’re that big shot detective I’ve heard Martha talking about."
"I guess so. But you knew Martha?"
"We went to the same University. Was a prestigious school for intelligent people." He only seems to smile smugly at the mention of his schooling.
"Oh okay, what precisely is your occupation?"
"I'm a Scientist! I’ve studied the art of flavours and textures within Wine."
IF the player observed the newspaper, this sentence will appear: You pause at the man's famillar apperance before realizing he's the same man from the newspaper. If you recall correctly, his name's Julian.
"So..." you mutter, "you are an Oenologist?"
See card 16 - Julian's character card
Julian laughs. "Well some may say that making wine is a science!"
"Maybe this is a conversation for after drinks! I'm sure we will talk later," you say to excuse yourself from the conversation.
[[Speak with man on the phone]]
[[Speak with Elliot]]
If the player has spoke to everyone, this option appears:
It's been a while since Mr. Bordeaux scurried off. He must have cooled down by now.
[[Go to Mr. Bordeaux's office]]You skim over the lobby to see Eliot return with a sigh, no longer carrying mountains of bags in his hand.
"Rough day?" you ask, walking over to him.
"Huh?" Elliot blinks before shaking his head. "Uh, pardon me. Yes, I just finished cleaning the glass."
"Are you sure you're just the bellboy?" you joke.
"No, I'm basically a slave," Elliot chuckles, but it doesn't seem too much of a joke. "Have you spoken to my father yet?"
"No, I've learned the hard way that it's never well to speak with someone full of emotion."
"Too bad. People give out their biggest secrets the, eh?"
You laugh. "Not bad, rookie."
Elliot smiles before heading over to the dinner hall.

[[Go to Mr. Bordeaux's office]]You approach the man who seems to be demanding something on the phone. The moment you two make eye contact, he mutters a quick farewell to the person on the other side.
See card 15 - Leonardo's charcter card
"Ah, You must be Detective Braun. Welcome to the lion’s den." Leondardo says, offering a smile.
"Thank you...?" you say hesitantly. "You are?"
"My name is Leonardo, but call me Leo."
IF the player looked at the wall frames, this sentence will appear: You pause, glancing over at the wall frames. Leo is the same man in front of the large ribbon with a gun holster on his waist. You briefly glance down to see, by no surprise, that same gun on his waist.
"Greetings Leo. I see you were fashionably late."
"Why thank you. Couldn't arrive in anything but a rich suit."
"Quite a fancy choice, It must have cost a fortune!"
"Nothing a casino owner couldn't afford."
"Wow, So Money is no problem for you?"
Leonardo smirks. "Money? No, Detective. Money is just a tool. It's the power and influence that really matter."
"hmm, So how did you meet Mr Bordeaux? Is he a gambling man?"
"A little, but me and Nicolas go way back, Been business partners for a while. He provides wine to my Casino. Although a recent batch was spoiled!"
You nod slowly. "Has that caused any tension between you two?"
"Nicolas is very... protective of his wine empire. So often looks for others to blame."
"Sounds complicated."
Leonardo laughs, "Ahah, enough about business. But I would like to know, are you a gambling man?"
"I’ve had some poor life choices in my past, but gambling wasn't one of them."
"Does that mean I can't interest you in some Black Jack?"
You chuckle in response, "Maybe, I will give it a go!"

[[Speak with Elliot]]
If the player has spoke to everyone, this option appears:
It's been a while since Mr. Bordeaux scurried off. He must have cooled down by now.
[[Go to Mr. Bordeaux's office]]You follow the path where Mr. Bordeaux escaped to, gazing over at the door with a light seeping through the crack.
You tap your knuckles against the wood.
"Mr. Bordeaux? It's Lukas Braun."
After a soft sigh, you hear a gruff voice call back to you. "Come in!"
You step into Mr. Bordeaux's office, instantly drenched in a room that enriches every object.
See card 17 - Enviroment card for Bordeaux's office.
"Ah, Lukas, welcome," Mr. Bordeaux says as he sets down a bottle of whiskey and finishes his sip. "Whiskey?"
"No, thanks. I don't drink."
"A shame. My apologies for not welcoming you earlier. I was... caught up in my marriage affairs."
"I'm sure all the guests could tell."
Mr. Bordeaux's chuckles. "Yes, yes. How are you finding all the company I collected?"
"Certainly some characters. But I appreciate the invite." You pause for a moment. "Your words sounded dire, what is it?"
"I received an ominous piece of mail. From whom, I am unsure. They mentioned some deals I have been contracting in secret."
"What was the nature of this letter?"
"Threatening, to say the least. It included details that I have not shared with many."
Nicholas pours himself another cup of whiskey. "It declared I refrain from making my announcement, or they'll be forced to take action."
"Okay, intriguing. Any clues to lead you to believe who dunnit?"
"I’ve gathered all the potential suspects here tonight."
"Suppose you want me to investigate their actions or motives."
Mr. Bordeaux leans forward. "Can you do this for me? Can I trust in your discretion?"
[[Of course]]Your eyes gaze around the room to see a black safe nuzzled on one of the shelves.
"Anything special in there?"
"Hm?" Bordeaux follows your gaze. "None in particular."
"Well, if it's in there, surely it's valuable. Perhaps it's something special enough for someone to send a death threat?"
"I sure hope not. No one is allowed in this study but me."

[[Head back out]]Across from Bordeaux is a photo. You quietly creep behind the host to observe the photo.
It's a family photo. One of Bordeaux's most recent wedding. As expected, Gisela and Elliot are in the photo... but so is Hazel.
Yet the one image that you can't seem to keep your eyes off of... is a crumpled photograph of a woman, who looks to be quite older, clipped onto Bordeaux's desk.

[[Head back out]]Wandering towards the desk, you take a look at the pile of documents cluttered across the host's desk.
Only one stands out to you. A Will document.
"With old age... only comes more paperwork," Mr. Bordeaux chuckles. "I have a lot to leave behind. I regret not choosing what goes where sooner."
"Anyone in partucular come to mind?"
Mr. Bordeaux shakes his head. "Don't be hasty, Lukas. But let's just say there's only a select few that will get my fortune."

Tilting your head, the brochure reads: CRESTWOOD BOARDING SCHOOL.
"Ah, those are for Hazel," Bordeaux says, "her paintbrushes are getting old so I bought her fresh ones."
"And the brochures?" You ask.
"Oh, those are old." Bordeaux waves his hand in the air. "I sent him there when he was young."

[[Head back out]]After searching the study, you move to the door.
"I'm off to invesitgate some of your guests."
Mr. Bordeaux adjusts his posture. "Before you go, may I make a suggestion?"
"Always."
"The guest rooms are currently empty with the preperations for dinner and the everyone mingiling in the lobby. Now might be a good time to... look around in some rooms while they're unoccupied."
You walk over to the bookshelf, most of which are filled with business books but a handful of rare novels seem to have the same name: Ingrid Hinder.
You pick up one of Ingrid's books, flipping open to a random page. The scene is set in... a ski lodge. There's a bartender with red hair and an old musician on his fifth drink. A bright and bubbly wife of the rich man who owns the lodge.
See card 11 - Ingrid's book
All seem too identical.
You close the book, but make a quick note of it.
[[Observe frames on the wall]]

[[Speak to Mrs. Bordeaux]] You observe the thousands of frames on the wall. There's a mix of certificates, awards, and newspaper headings that scream "success."
The one that catches your eye are two newspaper headlines. One of a man in a wheelchair shaking Mr. Bordeaux's hand with a certificate in both of their hands.
Another frame holds an image of Mr. Bordeaux and a man in a suit by a large ribbon. The man in the suit holds one of Mr. Bordeaux finest bottles of wine, but the item that's more visible is the gun dangling by his hip.
You glance over to see those two men loitering in the lobby with you. They must have just arrived. Perhaps it would be good to speak with them.
There are no photos of Bordeaux's family on this wall.

A complicated family is nothing out of the ordinary. But the fact that a young Hazel, the woman behind the bar, is in the family portrait is everything but normal.
